PBXnSIP - Version 3.0

pbxnsip pbx 3.0

The perfect IP PBX for the Small- to Medium sized Business

PBXnSIP offers all popular features of the PBX and maximizes the interoperability with existing vendors of SIP equipment. It has all features that you expect from a PBX. It has auto attendants, hunt groups, mailboxes, conference mixer. It even supports call recording, paging and call agent groups.

PBXnSIP uses the SIP protocol and supports a large range of devices from all kinds of vendors. It supports trunking to virtually every Internet telephone service provider (ITSP) who allows you to register a SIP device. It also sets very low requirements on the interoperability with PSTN gateways. You can choose between affordable devices that terminate your 911 calls and high-performance gateways that provide excellent audio quality to and from your network.

Available for Microsoft Windows, Linux and BSD and for any PC hardware platform. You can use standard SNMP tools to check your PBX and you can remote manage your PBX from any web browser that can get to the built-in web server of the PBX. It supports plug and play for selected user agents and it self can be automatically configured.

PBXnSIP comes with built-in mini-session border controller (SBC) that allows your users to register, no matter if they are behind NAT or on a public Internet address. It uses https, sips, SRTP and sdes to make the communication to your PBX secure. Using sdes-capable devices, your voice calls will stay as secure as your https traffic.

PBXnSIP gives you an excellent price performance ratio and it keeps your supports costs as low as possible. This software must run somewhere, but If you don’t like to set up your own server, we can send you pre configured servers that have everything set up for you already. If you tell us what you would like to have on these servers, we will pre-configure them for you. Just power them up, connect your peripherals, and start making calls. Installing a telephony system was never easier!

The new Version 3.0 offers a large number of license options. License bundles for typical setups can be obtained from us. Additional options can be added to the bundles. Ask for upgrade licenses from previous versions to 3.0. Call ABP for more information about our pre-configured packages.

Feature List

Localization and Configuration
The PBX comes with selected pre-recorded languages (e.g. US-English, German, French, Spanish, and Russian); other languages can be added easily. The auto attendant is able to prompt the user to select a language, which makes it possible to use the PBX with dual language requirements. Texts for emails can be customized using language definition files. The built-in web server supports multiple languages. All localization settings can be defined on domain and extension level. In order to support easy and safe installation, the PBX includes a tftp server that generates configuration files for selected user-agents on the fly (e.g. Cisco phones models 79xx version 8.x, Polycom 2.x versions, snom 7.x versions). Other user agents can easily be added by simple configuration file templates.

NAT and Mini-SBC
The service runs on hosts with multiple IP addresses. For example, several private and public IP addresses can be mixed. A built-in mini-session border controller makes sure that devices behind NAT can be registered to the PBX. This makes it possible to run the service for extensions in the LAN and at home offices. The PBX also supports the allocation of public IP addresses using STUN. This is necessary for some ITSP in order to present them with a routable address.

Cell Phone Support
The PBX supports multiple registrations per extensions. The user may decide to ring the cell phone after a certain time when the extension does not pick up. When receiving a voicemail message, the PBX may call the cell phone and read the message out. For international calls, PBX users can call from their cell phones into the PBX to place international calls using the PBX‘s dial plan and rates. This significantly reduces the communication costs for international oriented companies.

Paging and Intercom
The PBX supports these popular functions by using standard SIP and multicast RTP. This makes it possible to implement small paging groups up to large corporate announcement systems. Music on hold can be sourced from files and RTP streaming.

PBX Functions
The PBX supports hunt groups and waiting queues. All services can be run in day/night mode. If necessary, simple IVR dialogs can be set up and external databases can be queried for routing purposes. A built-in conference mixer is able to host unmanaged conferences. In addition to the build-in mailbox system, external, SIP-based voice mail systems (for example, Microsoft® Exchange 2007) can be integrated.

Management
Management costs make up a large portion of the total cost of ownership when running services like a IP-PBX. The pbxnsip significantly compared to other products. Using only the file system makes backup and redundancy easy. Most of the administration can be done from the web interface of the PBX. A built-in SNMP agent makes it possible to integrate the PBX into the overall corporate monitoring system.

Presence and IM
The PBX supports sharing presence information and instant messaging (IM). This makes it possible to operate these services independently from public vendors. This has the advantage that users do not get distressed by public IM traffic during work hours. A built-in SNMP agent makes it possible to integrate the PBX into the overall corporate monitoring system.

Busy Lamp and CO-Lines
The PBX supports these popular functions by using standard SIP and multicast RTP. This makes it possible to implement small paging groups up to large corporate announcement systems. Music on hold can be sourced from files and RTP streaming. Selected devices also allow music on hold input from the audio input jack.

Technical Specifications

Hardware

Operative System: The software IPBX is available for various platforms, including Microsoft Windows, Linux and Net BSD.

SIP Features: The PBX supports UDP, TCP and TLS transport layers. TCP and TLS are used to address NAT, TLS is used to address security requirements.

It fully supports RFC 3263 SIP server location, including DNS SRV and DNS NAPTR.All requests are processed in an overlapping fashion, including DNS lookups.

ENUM lookups are possible with the PBX.

Secure media transport is implemented using secure RTP (SRTP). The key exchange uses hop-by-hop key encryption. This feature allows end to middle security without the need to distribute certificates or keys.

The PBX supports RFC 3515 (REFER) and handles the transfer cases locally, so that attached devices do not have to implement this request. This method avoids interoperability problems experienced in heterogeneous environments with different user agents.

The built-in tftp server provides selected phones with configuration data. This configuration information is generated on the fly, and can be set up in a very simple way. The configuration data can also be accessed by http or https protocol.
